Dieux
*A Cult of Clinical Skincare
Dieux had a tension at the center of its brand — it was trying to be cute and clinical at the same time. The brand had been built on an anti-establishment origin story (its eye mask disrupted the category) and leaned heavily on Catholic imagery and religious wordplay, but had outgrown that specificity without finding what came next.
I identified the shift as a move from tapping the authority of religion to exploring the power of symbols — freeing the brand from the constraints of Christianity and re-contextualizing the codes of ritual, mysticism, and belief to serve a skincare line that worships at the altar of science. The creative idea, A Cult of Clinical Curiosity gave Dieux a framework that resolved the cute-versus-clinical problem.
It was a strategy that gave the brand a way to be both rigorous and irreverent — an architecture that stretched from product development to social content to retail, all organized around a single idea.
